What are the implications of singing objectionable poetry as a 21st century performer? How can we begin to examine, explore, and contextualize the art that exists because of the male gaze?

I wanted to shape a recital around music that was inspired by women- written for, about, or by them. In the cases where the poetry was not written by a woman I wanted to explore the politics of reframing this narrative and reclaiming the poetry.
